About

THE MUHARRAM CONVENTION

The Muharram Convention is a powerful and transformative 13-day gathering that commemorates the profound sacrifice and martyrdom of Imam Husayn (a), the grandson of Prophet Muhammad (s), at the Battle of Karbala. Held annually, this convention offers a deeply spiritual and educational experience that brings together a diverse, nationwide community of people from all walks of life, united in remembrance, reflection, and renewal.

Through rich sessions of spiritual reflection, scholarly discourse, and cultural commemoration, participants engage with the timeless message of Imam Husayn (a)—a message of faith and unity. The convention features inspiring lectures by renowned scholars and speakers, interactive workshops, panel discussions, and youth-centered programs designed to foster both intellectual growth and emotional connection.

Attendees have the opportunity to participate in majalis, youth programming, latmiyat, and community-building activities, every moment is an opportunity to remember, reflect, and reconnect—with our faith, our identity, and one another.

THE THEME

Every element of this year’s Muharram Convention logo was inspired by a line from Ziyarat Ashura: **ثَبِّتْ لِي قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَكَ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ** (“O Allah, grant me a truthful and steadfast standing with al-Husayn in Your sight”). These words from Imam al-Baqir (a) form the foundation of our 2026 theme, **UNWAVERING**. The calligraphic “حسين” at the center of the logo reminds us that true devotion to Imam al-Husayn (a) is not measured by what people see, but by the sincerity and steadfastness Allah (swt) sees in our hearts and actions.

The theme challenges us to reflect on what it truly means to stand with Husayn (a). It is not simply a claim we make or an emotion we feel during Muharram. It is a commitment to live with sincerity, sacrifice, and obedience to Allah (swt). As we enter this sacred season, we pray that our mourning is accepted and that Allah (swt) grants us a truthful and steadfast place with Imam al-Husayn (a) in this life and the next.
