Building a relationship with the Qur’an begins with proper recitation. This course is designed to help students learn how to recite the Qur’an correctly, with care, confidence, and respect for its words. This session will help with pronunciation, fluency, and applying the basic rules of tajweed, allowing students to recite with clarity and a deeper connection to the Qur’an.

Students will learn the foundational rules of tajweed, including the rules of meem and noon mushaddadah, noon and meem sakinah, qalqalah, light and heavy letters, rules of stopping, and the rules of madd. This session will help students apply these rules confidently in their recitation, improving accuracy, fluency, and overall clarity when reading the Qur’an.

Anyone who is an Intermediate Arabic reader and is seeking to strengthen their connection to the Qur’an through proper recitation should consider joining this course.

Dr. Maha Alhusseini

Dr. Maha Alhusseini took her first tajweed course with our dear community Quran teacher Hajjah Assima Hassoun. Almost 20 years later during the COVID-19 pandemic and with the boom of online classes, she connected with a graduate from Al-Azhar University where she honed her tajweed skills by practicing weekly for one full year. While many find tajweed to be a difficult subject, Dr. Maha hopes to share simple tools that can make this science accessible and easy. Dr. Maha Alhusseini is a practicing endocrinologist in Dearborn Heights, MI.
