This course will help students go beyond recitation and memorization by diving into the deeper meanings and divine messages of the Qur’an. It will strengthen their connection to the Book of Allah, allowing them to understand how each verse carries guidance for the soul, the society, and the future. Through a Shia lens, students will explore how the AhlulBayt (a) are the living interpreters of the Qur’an, and how their explanations open up doors to understanding that are both spiritually transformative and intellectually rich.
Students will learn the foundational principles of tafsir (Qur’anic interpretation) according to the Shia school, including the use of context, grammar, narrations from the Prophet (s) and the Imams (a), and the ethical objectives of each verse. They will explore selected verses from different Surahs—covering topics like divine mercy, justice, prophecy, moral conduct, and the Hereafter—and see how each verse applies to real-life decisions and spiritual growth. The course will also address the balance between literal and allegorical meanings, the difference between tafsir and ta’wil, and the role of the Imams (a) as the Qur’an’s true interpreters. Ultimately, students will leave with the tools to reflect, apply, and live the Qur’an in their daily lives.
Anyone seeking a deeper, more authentic relationship with the Qur’an should take this session. It is especially beneficial for youth, students of Islamic studies, those leading community discussions, and anyone who wants to understand not just what the Qur’an says—but what it means through the lens of AhlulBayt (a). Whether you’re a beginner or someone who has been reading the Qur’an for years, this course will give you a new perspective grounded in divine insight and spiritual clarity.
