“Our message lies in you. You are our ambassadors of soft power…”

– Ayatollah Shaykh Al-Sanad, Islamic Seminary, Najaf, Iraq

Building a deeper understanding of our heritage strengthens our identity and is a crucial part of development. Mainstay spearheaded a project that would connect Muslim professionals living in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada to the Holy City of Najaf – home to the Imam Ali Shrine and the center of Islamic learning. Through a 10-day seminar-styled retreat, the participants engaged directly with the senior most ranking scholars of the seminary. While the participants greatly bene ted from their experience, so did the scholars themselves. They deepened their understanding of the challenges facing communities in the West and appreciated the group’s openness and interest. In that short trip alone, strong bonds were created between the scholars and the professionals.

  • 24+ scholars of the Islamic Seminary
  • 40+ students and professionals from US, UK, and Canada
